Gratitude Turkey

This craft was inspired by Little Family Fun
As I promised in the Burlap Foam Board post yesterday -- here is our craft we created to put on this fun board.
::Gratitude Turkey::
What a great way to get the kids involved in crafting as well as being reminded of how thankful we should be for all of our things!
It's also a great tradition to start for all families during this season.

Spencer and I worked on this project together…he gave me his "opinions" of what he wanted his turkey to look like and insisted that I cut it out on my cricut.  You could also draw it free hand or find a template online.  I used card stock for our turkey but brown construction paper would work too.
Supplies I used to create our turkey:
  • brown card stock for turkey body
  • turkey pattern (I used the "black-out" feature on Animal Kingdom by Cricut cutting out turkey body, beak and red thing-ee under turkey's beak)
  • red, blue, orange, green, purple card stock for feathers
  • feather pattern -- I just drew free hand.
  • I hand cut two feet out of card stock
  • face for turkey - Peachy Keen Stamps
  • Sixxix Originals Die - Frame
  • various markers for doodling
I laminated the turkey for extra durability and so our family can use it for years to come.  =)

To attach our turkey and "thankful" feathers to the burlap board we used thumb tacks.  We tried glue dots and poster puddy but those didn't stick to the burlap.

{Dragonfly} Post-It Note Holder & Card

When my good friend, co-worker, and crafting bestie, Jennifer -- told me she found another job that would be better for her & her family I knew it would be hard to say good-bye…..{sniffle} I'm sooooo sad to see her leave us but excited for her new venture….because I know it's something she really wants. YAY Jen!!

I knew I'd have to create something very special for her…..and I definitely wanted to create something that incorporated a "dragonfly" because they are her favorite little creatures -- I also wanted to make her a little gift to remind her of "me" every time she looked at it -- hmmm…. so I decided to make her one of these popular acrylic frame Post-it Note holders for her new desk.  :)  If you are not familiar with these little acrylic photo frame Post-it Note holders you can see a variety of them by clicking here.

These adorable Post-it Note holders make great little gifts, craft show sellers and items you can create for your family or friends.

Side view = the frame is a 4"x6" clear acrylic photo frame.

I cut pattern paper to fit inside frame. The adorable dragonfly is from Create-a-Critter by Cricut.

Critter face is by Peachy Keen Stamps
I glued the dragonfly to the paper inside the frame. The "J" is on a 1" scalloped oval punch,
pop up dot on outside of
frame to give dimension to the useable holder.
I also added to gems to "bling" up the J.

Card is 4 1/2 x 5 1/4

Dragonfly is from Create-a-Critter by Cricut

Face is by Peachy Keen Stamps

Ribbon Loop punch by Martha Stewart

Sentiment by My Pink Stamper

Sentiment by My Pink Stamper "Friendtastic"

For an added touch I punched a small dragonfly on each sheet
of the stack of post-it notes.

I know Jen will LOVE it and definitely worth the extra effort!

I found the little dragonfly punch at Michael's.

Jen and I on our way to the Texas Stampede in Dallas last March!
What fun we had -- great memories!!

I know I'll miss seeing Jen everyday but I also know we will get together as often as we can to craft! woo hooo!!!!

Good Luck Jen -- my crafting bestie!!

Have a SUPER day everyone and I'll be back soon!!

Confirmation Princess Gift Bag

I created this gift bag for my niece to celebrate her Confirmation and thought I'd share it with you as an inspiration for other projects.

In addition to Confirmation….you could use this "idea" for many other occasions like First Communion, Wedding or other special events by changing the colors of the bag, dress and other embellishments.

I started with a white lunch bag like this….

Then……..cut off top portion of the bag (this will depend on what size you cut your princess). This is the border punch I used for top of bag ~ Treading Water by Fiskars

* My princess was cut from Once Upon a Princess cartridge by Cricut….

* Princess hair is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up, Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes folder and brown ink for shading and inking around edges of hair.

It's that time of year again -- Back to School!
I hear cheering and booing in the background…haha! Which are you?

Anyhoo's -- this was the perfect time for Robyn, My Pink Stamper to release the much anticipated school/teacher related stamp set.  I for one have been waiting patiently for her to design a set like this.  This set totally rocks!  Thanks Robyn!

Here is a card I made using one of the stamps "Apple of my Eye".  I decided to use this as the inside sentiment so check out the front of my card below.

"He has Risen" Goodie Bags for Pre-School Class

Hi everyone!

Easter is another favorite holiday for my family and it is a time we focus on doing more for others and less for ourselves -- just like Jesus gave His life for.  The More Faithful Sayings stamp set by My Pink Stamper is just what I needed to make these adorable treat bags below.  I was TOTALLY thrilled to see the "He has Risen" stamp included on this set.  This is what I know each and every day of my life.  This stamp set totally ROCKs!

I created these goodie bags for Spencer's classmates and a few friends.  I hope you enjoy them.  If this project looks a little familiar it may be because I was totally inspired to use the little faces on my eggs just like I did for my Easter Eggs Family Card.  Thank you all so very much for your super sweet feedback on that project.  :)

For this project:

I started with plain white envelopes, sealed the back and cut the envelope in half (making 2 pockets).

  • I started with plain white envelopes (letter size), sealed the back and cut the envelope in half to make 2 separate pockets.
  • The eggs were cut from the Easter 2010 cricut cartridge at 1 3/4".
  • Grass is also cut from the Easter 2010 cricut cartridge at 2 " -- white Galaxy marker for doodling.
  • Blue Egg - Everyday Character Assortment by Peachy Keen Stamps
  • Pink Egg - Happy Lashes by Peachy Keen Stamps
  • I used my white gelly roll pen for white of eyes and chalk for the rosy red cheeks.

  • Using my Imagine I pulled the cross from the Easter 2010 cricut cartridge and flood-filled it with a pattern paper from the Imagine cartridge - Country Carnival -- page 49.  The cross is cut at 4.6
  • I used a brown marker to make the doodling on the cross.
  • "He has Risen" and He Lives stamps are from the More Faithful Sayings by My Pink Stamper.

  • I added an orange ribbon to each bag for a handle.  You can insert it on each side of the inside of the envelope (I attached it with snail adhesive).

I really think Spencer's classmates will love them.....especially that the "boy egg" is winking at the "girl" egg - HA!

See ya soon!
