{Little Firecracker} Tubes - Recycle Project!

I had lots of fun making my Fireworks Snack last week that I couldn't wait to think of more ways to use the left over Twizzlers candy.  Thank you for all of your sweet comments.

If you've been following me for a while you know that I love to recycle, repurpose, reuse stuff that would normally be thrown in the trash.  So, let me introduce you to my Little Firecracker Tubes made with paper towel tubes and scrapbook paper.  When closed on one end these tubes make the perfect pocket to fill with a yummy treat.  I think these snacks will be a big hit at my 4th of July table….

Supplies:
  • empty paper towel tubes cut in half
  • 4th of July themed scrapbook paper
  • ivory & red card stock
  • Stars cuttlebug folder
  • Wavy Circle EK success punch
  • 3" scallop circle punch
  • Yankee Doodles by My Pink Stamper - (click here for kit)
  • inks - red, blue, brown, white
  • markers for coloring
  • crystal stickles to embellish stamped images
  • Scor Tape
  • Twizzlers candy
  • paper crimper
- I started with a 12 x 12 sheet of 4th of July scrapbook paper.  I made all 4 Little Firecracker tubes out of one sheet of 12 x 12.  I attached the paper to the tubes with adhesive.
- Punch 3" circle out of ivory paper using 3" scallop circle punch.  Ink edges with brown ink and dot scallops with navy blue marker.
- Punch wavy circle out of red paper using Wavy Circle punch.
- Emboss red circles using Stars embossing folder. Shade/ink with white ink.
Images - "Little Firecracker" and firecracker image found on Yankee Doodles by My Pink Stamper.  Color with markers (I used Copic markers).  Embellish with crystal stickles.
- Close one end of the tube with Scor Tape, tiny staples or other strong adhesive.  I used my paper crimper to add a bit of charactar to the end that's shut.
Refer to picture for placement of images and attach to circles and then to tube.
- Fill with twizzlers candy or other treat of your choice.

{Americana} Pinwheels

As I was strolling facebook I spotted this adorable pinwheel feature from Tip Junkie and I had to know more about them.  I {{love}} anything primitive country.

My cute friends over at Wayward Girls has an awesome step by step tutorial on how to make these pinwheels.  So please check that out if you want to know how to make these cuties.  Its super easy!

These pinwheels do not move -- they are just for decoration.

I started with an empty can and covered it with scrapbook paper in a burlap design.  I tied a strip of homespun fabric to the center of the can.

I added basket filler to "can" to cover up floral foam and rim of can.
For the pinwheels I used kraft pattern paper I found at Hobby Lobby.  All of these papers came together in a pack.  I glued them onto skewers.

I like the 4" pinwheels the best.  For these you see below I made 2 = 4" x 4" pinwheels and glued one on the front and one on the back of a skewer, off setting the colors a little. Alternating pattern paper and solid.

Learn how to make a pinwheel here

Here I am showing you the different sizes I tried.  The 6" pinwheel was a bit big for my arrangement.  I like the 4" pinwheels the best.

I also added sentiments to my pinwheel's arrangement -- it completes my project just perfect!

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!
I found this 4th of July banner while shopping King Dollar and thought it was way too cute to pass up for $1.09….. it was a little plain and had the idea to add some embellishments to cutsey it up.  Yeah!

For my embellishments I pulled out my Yankee Doodles stamp set by My Pink Stamper and started stamping and coloring.

Thanks for reading and I'd love to hear what you think about my embellished banner.
Wishing you all a super week-end!

For my project today I'm sharing how versatile these stamp images are.  The only thing holding you back is your imagination.  Seriously -- use them on anything to design a project.

In searching for 4th of July treats inspiration on pinterest I saw these darling little yummies from Room to Inspire and thought I'd like to put my spin on decorating these edible fireworks snack. I know everyone will love them!

Supplies
  • Red Twizzlers candy
  • Burlap pattern or 4th of July themed scrapbook paper
  • Yankee Doodles by My Pink Stamper (click here to shop)
  • black ink - "Darkest Night" by My Pink Stamper
  • blue ink - "Serendipity Skies" by My Pink Stamper
  • white string
  • small needle or hole puncher
  • markers for coloring
  • stardust stickles
  • tiny rubber bands (I find these in the hair supply section)
  • Distress ink (for edges of images)- Tea Dye by Tim Holtz

* Gather about 4 Twizzlers together and wrap with a tiny rubber band used to hold together.
* Cut 2" by 2" piece of scrapbook paper and wrap around candy.
* Stamp images onto white card stock using Darkest Night by My Pink Stamper.

* Highlight images with Stardust stickles.
* Punch out images with various EK Success or Fiskars punches.
* Using needle or hole puncher attach images to candy bunches.
