Today I'm excited to share one of our favorite desserts with you. Many may have the recipe (or something like it) but its too good not to share this fun and cool dessert. Kids and adults just love it in our family and my mother in law makes a bowl of it at most all family gatherings. Its truly the hit of the dessert table.
Here are the ingredients I used to put this together.
1 pkg. Oreo cookies
2 lg. boxes instant vanilla pudding
6 cups cold milk
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 tub whipped topping, thawed
......MY ASSISTANT.....
My handy little helper Spencer was really excited to share in the tasks of whipping up the pudding so we put 2 boxes of pudding in a bowl, poured in 6 cups cold milk, whisked it all up and put it in the refridgerator to set up (about 10 minutes).
After the pudding is in the refrigerator I get my cookies (aka "dirt") ready. I like my layered cookies a little chunky and my topping more finely chopped so I use put some cookies in a zip lock bag and using a malet of some sort I beat it until I get the texture I want. I save the last 5 or so cookies for the topping and give them a swirl in my mini electric chopper and I'm ready for layering. The chopper really gets them finely chopped.
I find it easier if I mix my pudding, cream cheese, and whipped topping in increments (same bowl just adding in sections) but you can definitely do this all at once if you have a large enough bowl. What works for me is I will mix a 1/3 pudding, 1/3 cream cheese & 1/3 whipped topping until I get it all mixed up into a creamy texture I then continue to add all of my ingredients together. I use my electric hand mixer for this task.
A glass bowl works the best so you can see the layers (I use my a trifle bowl most often). Alternate cookies and pudding mixture ending with the finely chopped cookies on top. Waaa Laa! Magnificent dessert that is yummy, easy and looks amazing.
For an added touch you can put in gummy worms to give it a more realistic and fun decor.
Have a great day everyone! :)
