Happy Birthday Basketball Fan

Here is the card I created for my 14 year old's birthday which is today. He's a HUGE basketball fan and loves to play and watch basketball.
The card measures 11 x 4 1/4... I wanted to accommodate a long lean BB player.
- I cut the BB player at 7 inches from Basketball Solutions.
- Happy Birthday is cut at 1 1/4 inches from Birthday Cakes cricut cake cartridge.
- Skyler is cut at 1 inch on Varsity letter.
One of my cards would not be complete without some doodling with white gel pens and black markers.
The basketball is a 1 inch circle and I drew on the BB lines.
Thanks for stopping by today ... We're off to celebrate Skyler's birthday by going shopping for a laptop for him....Wish me luck to find one that will not break my pocket book. Crossing fingers!!!
Happy Birthday Skyler!Pin It

::A Year in Review::

WOW! What a great year for Cricut Lovers, huh?

When Provo Craft (the makers of the Cricut) announced earlier this year that there would be new Cricut machines coming out and over 100 *new* cartridges many of us were very wide eyed and said "huh???"....are they serious???....well, YES, they were!!!!
  When I bought my first Cricut (which was an Expression) nearly 2 years ago I never knew it would take me to another level of crafting....and I love it even more today than I did when I first bought it.  This year we've seen the introduction of the Cricut Cake (a machine used for cutting frosting, fondant and gum paste) to decorate the most beautiful cakes ever.....as well as the super popular Cricut Imagine.  How about the awesome new colors of the Cricut Expression sold exclusively at Wal-Mart including plum, yellow, green, or turquoise??.  They even introduced us to the Cricut Lite cartridges (which are also exclusive to Wal-Mart).  Now, for real ......how many cartridges are considered enough???! hmmmm.....nope.... no need to worry because 2011 will be filled with new stuff for Cricut enthusiasts along with many new cartridges.  Let's not forget about the ever so popular Gypsy, Cuttlebug, and YourStory machine.  ....these are made by Provo Craft too.

Oh yes.....and what about the Cricut Circle club??
In addition, Die Hard Cricut fans were introduced to the Cricut Circle in the Summer of 2010 and were promised exclusive cartridges (only available to members and ebay customers HA!) along with a brand new blog and exclusive Circle message board.  Members (affectionately known as Circlettes) have been joined together from all across the US to unite in a way that is beyond anyone's imagination.  There is also planned and coordinated Swarms held in various states that is open to Circle members first and then any available spots are opened to the anyone interested in attending.  A Swarm is basically a gathering people who primarily enjoy working with the Cricut and Provo Craft products.  Swarms are held all across the world and the Cricut message board closes in those gaps between land and water to bring crafters closer together.  It really is a beautiful thing.  Check out the Cricut message board to see what I am talking about.  There are also Circle Meet-Ups that may be offered in your area.  There is a section on the Cricut Circle message board to see if one is held in your state or area.  The first large Swarm was held in Utah in early fall of this year and the next large Swarm will be held in my home state of Texas in March of 2011 - called the Texas Cricut Stampede.  Tammy and Angela from Creative Critterz are coordinating the huge event and it will be chocked full of wonderful food, fun, friends, and will show us a good ole Texas time.  As they say "Everything is bigger in Texas!"  I plan to be there and can't wait to meet you if you are going too.

2010 also introduced us to the Hello Thursday girls who are Tammy, Robyn, Joy & Melanie.  Hello Thursday is held on the 3rd Thursday of each month and the girls are the first to introduce us to the new cartridges released for that month.  Most of us would wait patiently (or impatiently) for their project posts to go up on their blogs showing us the new cartridge, images, and projects each created.  WOW!  What a treat.

So......
What was your favorite cartridge in 2010?  Gosh, it's hard for me to pick just one....because when there is anywhere between 5-24 (when the cricut lites were introduced) cartridges released at one time it's hard to pick one.  If I'd have to say.....my favorites of 2010 include Create a Critter, Sweet Treats, Country Life, and Simply Charmed.  My all time favorites also include Old West, A Child's Year, Doodlecharms, Forever Young, and both Paper Doll cartridges including Everyday Paper Dolls and Paper Doll Dress Up. To see a complete list of all Cricut cartridges please click HERE.

Here is one of my favorite card projects I created this year....this turtle is from Create a Critter and the "What's Up" stamp is by Robyn - My Pink Stamper.

Click HERE to get the details of this adorable card.  Ü

Sorry to talk your ear off today.....but in closing....

2010 was good for me...I was able to join the Cricut Circle and purchase the Cricut Imagine as well as numerous cartridges.  I have been to a couple of Swarms hosted by The Cricut Lady in Houston, TX as well as attended my first Circle Meet-Up this past October.  Mike, a Cricut representative flew in from Utah to spend the day with us chit chatting and tell us some top secret stuff....shhhhhhh.  LOL - just kidding.  He did say that 2011 will be filled with wonderful things to come.  So, fasten your seatbelt Cricut fans....this Cricut plane is about to take it high in the sky.

I had my first Design Team call and was THRILLED to have so many CJToo Friends send in submissions.
Thank you to my wonderful DT members who shared so many wonderful projects with us week after week.

Thank you to EVERYONE for a wonderful 2010.

As a thank you to my wonderful and loyal fans of CJToo I'd like to offer a chance to win a Cricut Lite Cartridge - Four Legged Friends.  Just leave me one comment on this post and a way to get in touch with you - (ex. craft junkie too at g mail dot com).
I will draw a winner on Sunday January 2nd.

The only criteria is that you must be a follower of my blog.  I will have to go on the honor system....because only you know it to be true.

Many hugs from CJToo and Spencer and we are looking forward to creating with you in 2011.

Card using Quarter Note Cricut cartridge - #139

Hi everyone....I hope your Christmas was awesome!  Santa was very good to me....he brought me a "plum" cricut expression bundle and it is sooooo pretty.  If you are a member of my Craft Junkie Too Facebook page you may have seen the short video I put up on Sunday showing you my cute little bundle.

For my first project with my new machine I decided to make my good friend Mary a birthday card using the new Quarter Note cricut cartridge.  Quarter Note is all about music, instruments, phrases and even has a very nice font on it too.  I chose this cartridge because Mary loves to sing, play the piano and really enjoys music.  This cartridge is PERFECT for music lovers and will make some beautiful scrapbook pages and/or cards for that special person in your life.

Supplies:
- Piano (3 inches) & Phrase (2 1/2 inches) - Quarter Note cricut cartridge
- cardstock - Papertrey Ink
- Designer paper & Vellum - Hobby Lobby
- border punch - Scroll & Dots by EK Success
- small black brads (to secure vellum to paper)
- black trim - Hobby Lobby
- black ink for shading, markers and white gel pen for doodling

The first video will show you the machine sizes and cuts.  I APOLOGIZE for being off camera during most of the demo in the book but I am getting used to my Ultra Flip HD camcorder and it's hard for me to see the little screen.  I will work on that in the future to ensure I am in the shot.  None the less....in the video I hope to give you the idea of what I am doing.  :)

In this video I will put the card together and show you some added additions I am using like the border punch and papers for the card.  I hope you find it inspirational.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and for leaving me your comments.  I really do appreciate you all.

Joann's VIP Discount Card

I know that many of you are not a Cricut Circle member but if you are did you know that Joann's offers VIP Discounts for crafting organizations?  This is not considered a Cricut Circle perk so therefore was never "announced" in an email or magazine....in fact a fellow MB member made the awesome discovery by visiting the Joann's website and dug a little further.  Sure enough....she received a VIP card in the mail a few weeks later and took it along with her Cricut Circle certificate into the Joann's store and has been receiving 10% off of her purchases ever since.  YAY!    Visit Joann's website and click on the Discount Cards link at the bottom of the page.  :)  If you belong to another crafting organization check it out as you may qualify as well.  You can use your discount card online or in the store.  Double YAY!

Winners - 12/21/10

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by for a visit. :)  I hope you are doing well and having lots of fun wrapping up those presents and/or shopping for those last minute gifts.  I just need to wrap everything up and put under the tree. I hesitated putting the gifts under the tree because my 4 year old informed me that he would unwrap them .....and I believe him.  His patience is getting better so rather than get upset with him I am picking my battles.  I guess it's like putting a cricut cartridge in my machine but telling me I can't use it.  LOL!

In today's post I am announcing the winners of the Hobby Lobby gift cards from the Jingle-Jangle Blog Hop held this past week-end.  I had a wonderful time hopping along and appreciate all of your sweet comments about my boys and my project.  I have a revolving tree so I enjoy watching my boys photo's come around.  It's a real joy!

School Picture Keepsake Ornaments - Video #137

This project is a 2010 project!  :)

Happy Saturday CJToo friends!

For those of you who stopped by my blog during the Jingle-Jangle blog hop last night  you've already seen this picture BUT I also have a video to share with you who are interested.  Sorry but I FINALLY got it uploaded to YouTube today and wanted to share it.  For some reason it appears that I was NOT supposed to get this video completed.  I filmed the entire video with my new HD Flip camera (that I got on Black Friday) and it was not zoomed in enough so my work space was tooooooo far away for you to see anything.  Geez....then YouTube wouldn't cooperate and it kept failing my upload.  (big sigh)
ÜÜÜ

Okay....finally....here is my video.

Since I had to do 2 posts to ensure I get my video uploaded you can leave a comment on this post also as well as one on yesterday's post (CLICK HERE).  I will give away 2 gift cards to Hobby Lobby.  Welcome new viewers and followers and THANK you my loyal viewers.  I appreciate you all sooooo much!

Hugs!

Thank You Gifts Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the Thank You Gifts Blog Hop hosted by http://www.joyslife.com/ - you are in for a real treat today and welcome to CJToo's blog.  This blog hop is all about making Thank You gifts for those who may be overlooked and need some holiday cheer.  If you arrived from Theresa's blog you are on the right trail - if you're starting here you can see a complete list of blogs participating in the Blog Hop below.  :)

In this season we get in such a hurry and forget about "this" person or "that" person or really need a little inspiration to make some treats in a hurry.  Here are 3 ideas I have for you today and I really think these turned out adorable.

I found these packages of tags at Hobby Lobby in the gift wrapping aisle.  You get anywhere between 10 plus tags in a package - perfect for the base of my Thank You card for my treats.  It already has the To: & From: on the card and all you have to do is fill in your name or your child's name.

The red/white stripe tags have the most adorable scalloped square on pop dots and perfect to create some goodie bags with Hershey's candy tied with curly ribbon and jingle bells.

The Merry Christmas tags with Santa is the perfect size to attach a candy cane.  Just punch 2 holes big enough to slide a candy cane into.  These tags are super duper cute and don't need anything but your name to say who it's from.

The last one is my Santa Peppermint Treats using plastic punch cups and some other "stuff" (see supply list below along with instructions).

You could put any of these treats together in little time flat!  I hope it gives you some inspiration to share and say THANK YOU to lots of lovable people who take care of you or  your family.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is the instructions to create these "Santa" Peppermint Treats
::Supplies::
- clear plastic punch cups (grocery store)
- large wide ribbon (Hobby Lobby)
- peppermints (grocery store)
- white basket filler (store)
- plastic cello bag (store)
- various coordinating ribbons to tie bag closed
- 2 medium jingle bells
- curly ribbon
- square tag (Hobby Lobby)
- Merry Christmas stamp - My Pink Stamper
Supplies for Santa Peppermint Treats
cut about 7 inches of wide ribbon and adhere in a circle with a stapler - I am using my Tiny Attacher by Tim Holtz
Insert ribbon inside plastic cup and arrange in a circle
Fill cup with Peppermints (or other candy of your choice)
put cup inside plastic cello bag and place white basket filler "stuff" around to add a little pizzaz to the bag!
Add various coordinating ribbons, jingle bells and tag.  Merry Christmas stamp is by My Pink Stamper
I hope you enjoyed my treats for today.
so hop on over to see her wonderful creations!
For my blog candy/treat today I've decided to give away a set of MPS Stamps.  I really like Robyn's stamps and turn to them for many projects.
The winner with have their choice of which one they'd like off of her products page.
For your chance to win just leave a comment along with a way to get in touch with you.  To avoid spammers picking up your email address - leave it like this.... craft junkie too at g mail dot com
Happy Friday & Give away Alert
Happy Friday everyone!  I just wanted to say thank you for being a follower or visiting my blog.  I appreciate you all so very much.  Life is pretty busy for me right now between getting my house back in order from the craft show last week-end, putting everything "back in it's place" to Skyler's basketball games, Spencer's Christmas program and just playing "catch up" at my regular job.  I just wanted to share with you a little about Spencer's Christmas program that was all about the true meaning of Christmas.  The program was titled "Bring it to the Cradle" and it was all about the gifts we receive from God and how we share those gifts with others by taking care of ourselves and others.  It was a beautiful program, the children sang beautifully and the since Spencer goes to a Christian Day School the Pastor played Santa Claus which explained to the children (and audience) the true meaning of Christmas.  And my sweet boy Spencer was the cutest ELF ever!!!.  My pictures didn't turn out the best so sorry I am unable to share with you.  :(
Once I get my craft/scrap room back to normal I will be making more video's and projects to share.  I have lots of ideas floating around in my head that will include Spencer because I know that kids crafts are popular too.
*please note* I am super excited to be participating in a Thank You Gifts Blog Hop sponsored by Joys Life this Sunday 12/12.  I have some really neat ideas for this blog hop so I hope you can join us.  I will also have a prize/blog candy to give away so I know you will all enjoy that.
*GIVEAWAY* For today I'd like to share a gift to you for being a viewer or follower of my blog - How about a $10.00 gift card to http://www.hobbylobby.com/ - just leave me one comment on this post and I'll draw a winner on Saturday evening.  Hobby Lobby also sells online and ships internationally.  So cool!  The gift card can be used in store or online.
DT Wednesday ~ More Christmas Organization Tips
Hi everyone! If you remember my wonderful Design Team 1 shared some Christmas Organization Tips last week { here } and now it's Design Team's 2's turn.
These are fabulous! Thanks ladies......
++++++++
"I decided to make a Christmas Shopping List Notebook.  I figured this way throughout the year you can jot down ideas for gifts you will buy family and friends, or even write down the gifts you pick up through the year for people.  I really was struggling with coming up with any sort of Christmas Organization Tip so I am eager to see what the other design teams come up with.  I lined the pages of this notebook with red and green Christmas themed paper and then white.  I don't have a bind it all or anything like that so I used my ribbon border punch (not sure of the proper name) and put some slots into the sides.  Then I wove some green ribbon through to bind it with.  Then I ran white ribbon around the entire spine to make it more decorative.  I added some green ribbon to tie it closed so the pages won't open if you slip this in a purse.  This was the best I could come up with.  I just added a simple snowflake to the front since the ribbon goes across the middle."
++++++
Holiday Planner
Every year I find myself with all sorts of lists stuffed into my purse (gifts to buy, cards to send, thank-you notes to write). So this year, I decided to make myself a little holiday planner. I used my new Your Story Photo and a green book cover that came with it. Inside I have lined pages of white cardstock that I created on my printer, along with 3 divider pages: Cards, Gifts, and Thank Yous (see my blog for more pics and details). Everything was cut at 4" x 6". I decorated the cover, and voila, a cute little planner to keep me organized, that can be tucked into my purse.
Recipe:
Your Story Photo and Book Cover
Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge (topnote shape)
Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate and Rustic White Cardstock
SEI Christmas Mint Patterned Paper
Papertrey Ink Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circle Collection Dies
Papertrey Ink Holiday Button Bits and 2010 Holiday Tags Stamp Sets
Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy, Dark Chocolate, and Chamomile Ink
Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy Felt, Vintage Buttons, and Pure Poppy Baker's Twine
++++++
Hi everyone! I wish I could say I have tons of organization ideas for you, but I don't. I started out making a card holder, but with only a 12 x 12 mat, it's not possible. So it's a picture holder for all those random wallet pictures that come in your Christmas cards. I cut this out from Jolly Holidays at 10 1/2 inches. If you have a 12 x 24 mat, you could probably make it big enough for cards. Winter Wishes is cut at 2 3/4 inches. I did cut out the base in some chipboard and then again in the red. You can see more details on my blog!
++++++
This is a 6 inch cube sized box. Inside I placed a cardboard divider in the box. I wanted to be able to put cards in the front of the box, and have file folders in the back. To keep everything from sliding around too much I figured this divider would help.
The dividers in the back are really simple. I just cut cute double sided papers that I would say are a medium thickness, then I scored them in half. They are from a K & Company holiday stack. To cut the
tabs along the top I used the Cricut and the From My Kitchen cartridge. Then I drew some stitching lines and wrote names on the tabs with one of my Stampin' Write markers from Stampin' Up.
One of the tabs is labeled "cards" so I can keep a list of who I have made cards for, or sent cards too. The other tabs are all names, and each family only has one folder. So, for example - my husband's sister is named Becca, and the folder just has her name on it, but it will also include the gift lists for her kids.
My plan is to put any gift ideas in the appropriate folder. Also, if I decide I know I want to make a certain project I can write a supply list, and also record where the pattern is if it's something that requires one.
I decorated the outside to look like a present. I used a couple die cuts from Doodlebug Designs with some Stickles and Buttons. I covered the whole thing with some DCWV patterned paper and finished off with some high quality grosgrain ribbon. I tied a bow, knowing that my family cannot replicate it - so I'll know if someone has peeked!  Visit my blog for more.
*LOL*
++++++
I was asked to give a organizational tip or two and I have had a very hard time with this! LOL I am organized, I have to be because of where I live, we have no craft stores so supplies have to be bought in advance. The first tip I have to make a gift list, I have a master gift list and I buy gifts and things to make into gifts all year long, when I find things on sale. That leads right into the second tip, the picture is of some aluminum water bottles that I found on sale and a glass ornament (plus the supplies I used on the glass ornament) that I bought after Christmas last year, cheap! I try to find things like this all year long and store them in my closet in the craft room, then when a Birthday or Christmas rolls around I have the raw materials to create nice, inexpensive gifts! Happy Holidays Everyone!!  Visit my blog for more.
Tammy
++++++
Here is my project for Organization, I made a Holiday planner for 2011, I am not organized this year at all! HAHAHA~! But hopefully next year this will get me in motion and ready for the holiday season.  I found the calendar, stocking list, card list and gift list at http://www.christmas.organize.org/.
Check out Rebecca's new blog design too....it's awesome!  :)
++++++
  Kristin
For our "Holiday Organization" Challenge, I decided to challenge MYSELF to get organized for my holiday shopping. I made a holiday shopping organizer to easily store my coupons, receipts, and holiday gift ideas.
The only cartridge I used for this project was From My Kitchen for the file folders and tabs. I used the Cinch to bind the notebook part of the organizer together. I made the expanding file folder out of cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the cover. This is a 5x7 book that slides easily into my purse and makes my holiday shopping so easy!
I have a video and full instructions available on my blog.
