{Dragonfly} Post-It Note Holder & Card

When my good friend, co-worker, and crafting bestie, Jennifer -- told me she found another job that would be better for her & her family I knew it would be hard to say good-bye…..{sniffle} I'm sooooo sad to see her leave us but excited for her new venture….because I know it's something she really wants. YAY Jen!!

I knew I'd have to create something very special for her…..and I definitely wanted to create something that incorporated a "dragonfly" because they are her favorite little creatures -- I also wanted to make her a little gift to remind her of "me" every time she looked at it -- hmmm…. so I decided to make her one of these popular acrylic frame Post-it Note holders for her new desk.  :)  If you are not familiar with these little acrylic photo frame Post-it Note holders you can see a variety of them by clicking here.

These adorable Post-it Note holders make great little gifts, craft show sellers and items you can create for your family or friends.

Side view = the frame is a 4"x6" clear acrylic photo frame.

I cut pattern paper to fit inside frame. The adorable dragonfly is from Create-a-Critter by Cricut.

Critter face is by Peachy Keen Stamps
I glued the dragonfly to the paper inside the frame. The "J" is on a 1" scalloped oval punch,
pop up dot on outside of
frame to give dimension to the useable holder.
I also added to gems to "bling" up the J.

Card is 4 1/2 x 5 1/4

Dragonfly is from Create-a-Critter by Cricut

Face is by Peachy Keen Stamps

Ribbon Loop punch by Martha Stewart

Sentiment by My Pink Stamper

Sentiment by My Pink Stamper "Friendtastic"

For an added touch I punched a small dragonfly on each sheet
of the stack of post-it notes.

I know Jen will LOVE it and definitely worth the extra effort!

I found the little dragonfly punch at Michael's.

Jen and I on our way to the Texas Stampede in Dallas last March!
What fun we had -- great memories!!

I know I'll miss seeing Jen everyday but I also know we will get together as often as we can to craft! woo hooo!!!!

Good Luck Jen -- my crafting bestie!!

Have a SUPER day everyone and I'll be back soon!!

{Craft Punch} Organization

I have an obsession with craft punches -- my favorite punches include the ones by EK Success with the Martha Stewart Crafts coming next.  I also have a big selection of Fiskars, The Paper Studio and other ones in the mix.  I wanted to find a more organized system to display my punches and have them out where I could see them.  Here is a few ideas I found while searching online for my own re-organization ideas and thought you may enjoy looking at them too.
I'm in the process of re-organizing my craft room and will share pictures soon.  :)

Below is a video showing you the steps I take to create the “pin it” button for my blog posts.  I hope it helps! :)

Monogrammed Cards - My Pink Stamper Design Team Day!

Welcome to the February 2012 edition of the My Pink Stamper's Design Team projects hosted by Robyn, My Pink Stamper.

Today -- our projects are all about using as many My Pink Stamper stamps as we could -- that was a pretty big challenge because Robyn has tons of great ones in her collections.

I decided to create a set of monogrammed cards just to have "on hand" when I need to grab one for a quick gift.  I use lots of little cards to stick in gifts and here and there -- so these are simple and perfect!

Create cards to have "on hand" to grab as you need them for last minute needs!

Blogging Likes and Dislikes -- Your Ideas!

I read blogs about crafting, diy, recipes, and home improvement. Thank goodness there are so many wonderful blogs out on the www to touch upon about any subject. My blog reading preferences include things I like, bloggers with the same interest as mine and those who inspire me to take "this" and make "that" out of it.

Now one blog that I visit often is Ms. Karen from Sew Many Ways. With a blog title like "Sew" many ways you would think it is all about sewing, right? Nope again! This little {big is so many ways} blog has so much more to offer. Yes, there is lots of quilting and sewing projects/tutorials but she also includes organizing tips, recycling projects and blogging tips -- thus leading to this post. Today she asked her readers to List their Likes and Dislikes about blogs. There are over 50 comments {more by now}-- of good, valuable, informative responses from other bloggers and readers of what you like and don't like on a blog.

Hearing from other bloggers really helps me with my own blog.  I craft because I love it -- I have this blog because I love to share my crafting with you.  When I first started this blog it was to show you crafts I created using my Cricut I still love my cricut -- but I've expanded my views and want to incorporate all areas of crafting I enjoy.

We are all learning from each other and I appreciate the good and bad of blogging -- so I'd like to ask that you leave a comment about your likes and dislikes of my blog and or any other blog (just a general list).

I'll share kind of the same format Ms. Karen did as it is very informative.

Here are thoughts about my OWN blog {Craft Junkie Too}….

  • Am I too wordy in posts? {I'm trying to work on that}.
  • I've started using the "read more" button/bookmark to help my readers scroll through or skip over the text/pictures you don't wish to read.  Do you like that or should do you want to see the entire post throughout the entire blog?
  • I took the labels off the bottom of each post.  Do you prefer labels in each posts so you can easily click on them or you use the side bar?
  • Is my new set up easy to navigate?
Here are my thoughts on blogs I visit….
  • I do not use a Reader -- I depend on my blog list of updates to know when my favorite blogs have a new blog post that I want to read. Do I read every single post? Nope. I'm a busy mom, work full time and have a home to care for. I miss a lot of posts but I don't worry.  I also subscribe via email to my favorites -- it comes right to my email box.
  • No music for me…. Music that starts immediately turns me off from visiting.  1st of all I'm not expecting it so it makes me jump…..   Video's of music or a playlist on the sidebars is fine -- it is MY choice if I want to click on it to listen or watch the video.
  • I like a clean easy to read blog -- I do not care for dark colored backgrounds with light text.  It hurts my eyes and I can't read it -- thus losing my attention.  I also do not care for lots of patterned backgrounds -- the focus of your blog should be on your posts -- not the background.
  • Fonts in your entire post.  Blogger just introduced us to a whole slew of fonts -- but I do not care for that cutsy font throughout your entire post.  Post titles, sidebar titles are ok -- not the entire body.  I  spot read and skip over a lot of text because of this.
  • I like links in your blog post to "take" me to another page, website or help me find the product you're using.
  • Give credit for the project -- Inspiration is everywhere…..give credit to the creator or where you saw it first….sometimes we just don't know but if you do -- please credit the designer.
  • I like to get to know who you are -- I don't want your entire life story or really want to read about your 5th vacation in 6 weeks -- I'm looking for projects and inspiration most -- but I love to hear about your family, fun times and if you struggle with something I can relate to (weight) :)  I love the "about me" link or blogger profile -- this helps me get to know you better.
  • I'm a visual person meaning I love pictures and/or videos showing me how to do it -- I {love} pictures that have good lighting.  Your picture is the first impression of your project and if you do not have good lighting when you take your picture -- it does not give your project justice.  Cropping your pictures are a good idea -- it helps me see your project and not everything on the table too.
  • I do not care for a lot of blinking graphics -- a few is fine but lots of animated graphics (especially side by side) loses my attention.
  • I dislike the word verification for comments.  I have mine turned off -- if you're worried about spam….. moderate your comments -- all or specify a date after post to receive an email to publish the comment or not. I don't leave many comments because of this…..
  • The {no-reply bloggers} -- I like to respond to comments but if you are a "no-reply blogger" then I can't.  Click here to learn how to check if you are no-reply blogger (courtesy of Ms. Karen)
  • Pinterest - {{loooove it}} If you do pinterest -- let me know with a button, link to your boards or mention of it.  If I like your blog -- I want to follow you on pinterest too.
  • I probably could go on for a few more but I'll stop there…...

Okay -- I'd love to hear your likes and dislikes about blogs in general or will take your suggestions about my blog into consideration….I promise.

{Football} Heart Valentine

Sometimes I think it would be easier to buy valentines for our kid's classes -- it would definitely cut down on the time it would take to get everything together and make them -- but then that wouldn't be any fun would it? lol!

Let's Craft!
When I asked Spencer what he wanted to do for friends valentines he said a "football heart" {he is REALLY into football right now}. hmmmm….I asked him if he wanted a football ON the heart….nope -- he wanted a football heart…..SOOO….mom had to put on her "thinking" wheels on and this is what we came up with {he had to help me of course}.

He is happy with the end result -- so mom's happy too.

{I Choo Choose You} Boy Valentine!

Hello and welcome!

Being the mom of a little boy I'm always on the look out for "boy" valentines.  I thought this lil' train from Cricut's "Boys will be Boys" would be a great card for a valentine.  Pairing it with "I Choo Choose You" from My Pink Stamper's Boy Crazy set -- seems to be the perfect match!  These are so super simple and can easily be mass produced -- even at the last minute.  lol!!

Here is what I did:

Valentine {Love} Mantle Decor

I've been trying to get my pictures posted to share my Valentine {Love} Mantle Decor to show you how I incorporated some of the projects I created and shared over the past few weeks. I'm not sure if I am completely finished with my mantle as I may still add a few odds and ends -- I thought I may create a burlap banner -- like this one I saw on Pinterest but just haven't had the time.  If I get around to it I'll share it with you too.

You may remember this {Heart} Canvas Shadow Box decor project I showed you a while back.  I also included a video showing you how to make those super fun "crepe paper rosettes" right there on that beautiful heart!   I knew I had the perfect place for it once I finished it.
It's sitting in front of this old window frame that is very special to me -- it's one of my favorite home decorating pieces I have.

This {Family Love} Subway art I shared with you last week and I need to explain my choice of how I have it displayed.  It's printed on an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock BUT the frame I bought for it is exactly 8 1/2" x 11" and would not accommodate the borderless printed project -- DUH!!! SO I decided I'm not buying another frame for it so looked around for things I already had that may work.  My office clipboard to the rescue!  I still may add some tulle or ribbon to the clip to dress that up too.

I found these "I ♥ U" votive candle holders at King Dollar and thought they would suit my decor perfectly.  My garland is red & black boa that I purchased from Hobby Lobby last year.  I also included some

I'm excited to share my candles and candle holders with you.  First the candles are battery operated LED candles.  Yep, that's right -- flameless and completely safe!  They even flicker like real candles.  I got them on sale at Hobby Lobby.  I just added the designer paper and red tulle around the center for added touches.

My candle holders are very old and worn wooden spools.  I am a primitive country girl at heart and my home is decorated with lots of old wooden stuff like this.  I actually found them on ebay about 5-6 years ago -- they came from an old mill that was shut down and the guy was selling stuff from it.  SCORE!!! It was like a dream come true to find these big bulky old wooden spools and I use them in my decorating frequently.

These roses have been part of my valentine's decor for many years.  I found them while grocery shopping yeeeears ago and love the bulkiness of them.  I just stuck them in a rusty pail and added a few other smaller hearts for dimension.

This last picture is very romantic -- don't you think?  I cut off all of the lights and snapped this picture to show you how sweet everything glows at night…..{{{love}}}!

~Tracy
